THE PROJECT
Making LIVE events for children and adults with disabilities accessible

THE PROJECT
Hello! My name is Piper Bush. I am an active teen that is working towards her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. I am also a dancer, violinist, student council officer, and school varsity pom team co-captain that was inspired by a young boy named Bravery with autism to make a difference in the world.

When Bravery attended his sisters' orchestra concert, he left early with his family early because he was not following "proper concert etiquette". He was humming during the tuning note and not being as quiet as it is expected at a live concert. Even though Bravery is non-verbal, he makes his love of music and his support of his sisters known through the joy on his face and humming along to the tuning was just another way he showed support. After repeated glares and comments from guests in the audience, his parents took him home early which meant the parents had to leave as well, missing their own daughters' concert.
I want to create a safe space for children and adults with disabilities to come and watch shows, performances, and events with their families and not be asked to leave because they are a distraction. Help me make a nationwide movement and make a Project Bravery show a part of every music, art, and sporting event nation wide!

THE FACTS
14% or 7.3 million students age 3-21
RECEIVE SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES UNDER THE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES EDUCATION ACT
One out of every 700 babies born in the United States
ARE BORN WITH DOWN SYNDROME
1 in 54 children in the U.S.
IS DIAGNOSED WITH AN AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER
Sadly, it is a common occurrence for families to have to miss live events and performances because the event/performance is not sensory friendly or because of fear of distracting members of the audience or cast. Help me change this today!!
